Online Workshops

We have lots of on-line workshops available to help job seekers search for a job, prepare for an interview, and develop strategies that will help you succeed in your search for work and once you are employed.

Our online workshops are free to attend, but many do require registration. Most are offered on WebEx, vary in length, and scheduled between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Some are highly interactive, while others are more a presentation where you can ask questions using a chat feature. We are continually adding more options and updating schedules.

Sample Workshop Descriptions

Strategies for Success is a series of six different four-day workshops that teach life and soft skills you need to get and keep a job.

Courses include the following:

  • Work concepts
  • Health and well being
  • Communication
  • Personal strength builder
  • Community engagement
  • Work concept 2

You may start with one four-day course or commit to attend the full 6- week course and receive a certificate of completion. This would be a great accomplishment to add to your resume and employment portfolio.

Learn the strategy of creating a targeted resume to attract employers and lead to more interviews. Not a hands-on class where you will complete a resume; instead, come away with knowledge of various formats to better market your skills to specific employers to get the interview! Also, learn about making your verbiage count and showcasing your skills to be a competitive candidate.

This class will enhance your marketability; address transferring military skills into civilian verbiage; enhance your job search strategies; and provide assistance with navigating state and federal applications and employment.

You might have the best résumé ever, but if you don’t interview well, it won’t matter. Being able to handle a job interview is a necessity for any job seeker. Knowing what employers are looking for and being prepared are absolute musts. In this workshop, you will learn valuable interviewing tips and have the chance to practice answers to frequently asked—and sometimes difficult—questions in a supportive, realistic environment.

Today’s economy requires workers who can transfer skills from one work setting to another and who have the kinds of personal qualities that make organizations successful.

In this workshop, you will learn to identify, demonstrate and package, with confidence, your skills and personal qualities in ways that will be meaningful to employers. You also will learn oral communication skills and practice delivering a 60-Second Commercial - a brief, high-impact presentation to potential employers.

The Work Force Fundamentals workshop provides an introduction to the basics of determining a career pathway. The workshop provides information on soft skills, labor market information, defining work readiness and an overview of the services available through WorkSource. Participants in this workshop will be provided information on how to enroll in individualized services and have the opportunity interact and pose questions to the workshop host.

"Life After Layoff" - a virtual guide to the resources you need to redirect your work life. In our virtual meeting, we’ll provide a great deal of information about the workforce system for Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. Below you will find an outline of the programs and benefits that may be available to you from our team.
